A Brush with Kindness

“We don’t just rebuild houses; we build neighborhoods.”

A Brush with Kindness provides low-income and elderly families

with the opportunity to partner with volunteers to restore the exteriors

of their homes to their original condition—ensuring safe, decent, and

affordable homes. Home repairs are led by trained crew leaders and

completed by homeowners and volunteers, all working together.

Habitat partners with the homeowner to obtain supplies, and provides

all of the labor necessary to get the work done as affordably as possible.

Some of the tasks include:

  • Priming and painting the house, trim, and porch.

  • Removing unwanted plants and weeds.

  • Planting new plants and shrubbery.

  • Re-attaching loose siding.

  • Replacing broken windows.

  • Fixing or replacing exterior and storm doors.

  • Conducting minor exterior electrical repairs.
